Back to Basics

A ‘Back to Basics’ theme is planned for those of mixed experience and disciplines with an interest in oil and gas reservoir development.

The aim is to provide them with an insight to topics associated with the fundamentals and practice of reservoir engineering and an appreciation of the;

• Basic physical principles of reservoir engineering

• Challenges faced in the application of those principles

• Topics associated with reservoir characterisation and performance.

The fundamentals will be described using generalised/simplistic reservoir scenario descriptions.

Detailed mathematical concepts and worked examples will not form part of the course. Relevant examples from Laurie Dakes ; ‘Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering’  are suggested in the text.
